Duclair among several prominent free agents still available

It's been a little more than two weeks since free agency opened, and several prominent names are still available. It could be due to their high demands, or because of the flat cap next season leaving teams with little to no wiggle room. Today we're going to take a look at the top 10 remaining unrestricted free agents.

1). Mike Hoffman (Age: 30, Position: Left Wing). Hoffman spent the 2019-20 season with the Florida Panthers, putting up 59 points (29 G, 30 A), 28 penalty minutes, and was a -5 in 69 games. He was drafted in the fifth round, 129th overall by the Ottawa Senators in the 2009 NHL entry draft. In 493 career games, Hoffman has 359 points (172 G, 187 A), 177 penalty minutes, and is a -19.

2). Mikael Granlund (Age: 28, Position: Center). Granlund spent the 2019-20 season with the Nashville Predators where he had a bit of an off year. In 63 games, he recorded 30 points (17 G, 13 A), 28 penalty minutes, and was a -4. The Oulu, Finland native was drafted in the first round, 9th overall by the Minnesota Wild in the 2010 NHL entry draft. In 540 career games, Granlund has put up 352 points (111 G, 241 A), 150 penalty minutes, and is a +22.

3). Erik Haula (Age: 29, Position: Left Wing). Haula spent the 2019-20 season between the Carolina Hurricanes, and the Florida Panthers. In 48 games, he had 24 points (12 G, 12 A), 22 penalty minutes, and was a +1. Haula was drafted in the seventh round, 181st overall by the Minnesota Wild in the 2009 NHL entry draft. In 405 career games, Haula's recorded 175 points (85 G, 90 A), 182 penalty minutes, and is a +19.

4). Anthony Duclair (Age: 25, Position: Left Wing). Duclair spent the 2019-20 season with the Ottawa Senators. In 66 games, he put up 40 points (23 G, 17 A), 18 penalty minutes, and was a -5. He was drafted in the third round, 80th overall by the New York Rangers in the 2013 NHL entry draft. In 353 career games, Duclair's recorded 162 points (79 G, 83 A), 115 penalty minutes, and is a -3. If Duclair chooses to sign anywhere other than Ottawa, it will be his sixth NHL club since entering the league in 2014.

5). Travis Hamonic (Age: 30, Position: Defence). Hamonic spent the 2019-20 season with the Calgary Flames. In 50 games, he had 12 points (3 G, 9 A), 27 penalty minutes, and was a -3. He was drafted in the second round, 53rd overall by the New York Islanders in the 2008 NHL entry draft. In 637 career games, he has 188 points (37 G, 151 A), 591 penalty minutes, and is a +2.

6). Ilya Kovalchuk (Age: 37, Position: Left Wing). Kovalchuk bounced around the league during the 2019-20 season, playing with the Los Angeles Kings, Montreal Canadiens, and Washington Capitals. In 46 games, he had 26 points (10 G, 16 A), 18 penalty minutes, and was a -4. Kovalchuk was drafted in the first round, 1st overall by the Atlanta Thrashers in the 2001 NHL entry draft. In 926 career games, he's put up 876 points (443 G, 433 A), 546 penalty minutes, and is a -146.

7). Sami Vatanen (Age: 29, Position: Defence). Vatanen spent the 2019-20 season with the New Jersey Devils, and Carolina Hurricanes. He only made 7 appearances (all in the playoffs) for Carolina due to an injury. In 47 games, he put up 23 points (5 G, 18 A), 22 penalty minutes, and was a -12. He was drafted in the fourth round, 106th overall by the Anaheim Ducks in the 2009 NHL entry draft. In 434 career games, Vatanen has 194 points (45 G, 149 A), 192 penalty minutes, and is a -8.

8). Andreas Athanasiou (Age: 26, Position: Left Wing). Athanasiou split time between the Detroit Red Wings, and Edmonton Oilers during the 2019-20 season. In 55 games, he had 26 points (11 G, 15 A), 30 penalty minutes, and was a -46. He was drafted in the fourth round, 110th overall by the Detroit Red Wings in the 2012 NHL entry draft. In 303 career games, Athanasiou has 156 points (84 G, 72 A), 117 penalty minutes, and is a -76.

9). Alex Galcheynuk (Age: 26, Position: Center). Galchenyuk spent the 2019-20 season with the Pittsburgh Penguins, and Minnesota Wild. In 59 games, he had 24 points (8 G, 16 A), 16 penalty minutes, and was a -5. He was drafted in the first round, 3rd overall by the Montreal Canadiens in the 2012 NHL entry draft. In 549 career games, Galchenyuk's recorded 320 points (135 G, 185 A), 201 penalty minutes, and is a -58.

10). Carl Soderberg (Age: 35, Position: Center). Soderberg spent the 2019-20 season with the Arizona Coyotes. In 70 games, he had 35 points (17 G, 18 A), 18 penalty minutes, and was a +6. He was drafted in the second round, 49th overall by the St. Louis Blues in the 2004 NHL entry draft. He was traded from St. Louis to Boston in 2007, but didn't come over to North America from Sweden until the 2012-13 season. In 552 career games, he's put up 280 points (103 G, 177 A), 192 penalty minutes, and is a -20.
