Connor Brown, Sens avoid arbitration with new deal

Winger Connor Brown and the Ottawa Senators were set for an arbitration hearing Thursday but it appears the two sides have struck a new deal just hours in advance. According to TSN's Shawn Simpson, Brown and the Sens have afreed to a new three-year contract. It will carry an average annual value of $3.6 million.

Simpson went on the further break down the contract, stating it pays $2.8 million in the first year, and then $4 million per season for the next two. TSN reported Wednesday that Brown had been asking for $4.8 million with Ottawa was offering $2.2 million.

Brown, 26, was a restricted free agent. In July of 2019, he joined the Senators after being traded there by Toronto in the Nikita Zaitsev, Cody Ceci deal. Brown had a career year last season, recording 16 goals and 43 points in 71 games.
