The Vegas Golden Knights have signed highly sought-after defenceman Alex Pietrangelo to a seven-year contract that will pay him $8.8 million per season, according to TSN's Pierre LeBrun.

Pietrangelo, 30, also has a full no movement clause in the deal, meaning he cannot at any time be sent to the AHL and would have to agree to any potential trade. He has spent the last 10 seasons with the St. Louis Blues, and has been their captain for the last four. Though both he and the Blues were hoping to get a deal done, they did not have the cap space available to match Vegas' big price.

This past season was one of Pietrangelo's best to date, posting a career high 16 goals, along with 36 assists for 52 points in 70 games. He also put up one goal and five assists in nine postseason games. The solid playoff production is nothing new for the King City Ontario native, as last year he played a huge role in bringing St. Louis its first ever Stanley Cup, putting up 19 points in 26 games played. For his career, he has 450 points in 758 regular season games, and 51 points in 92 playoff contests.
