Defenseman Justin Schultz signs with division rival

Two-time Stanley Cup winner Justin Schultz has officially been signed to the Washington Capitals. Justin Schultz has spent the last five seasons with metropolitan division rival Pittsburgh Penguins.

The deal is a two-year contract and has an average annual value of 4 million dollars.

Schultz put up 3 goals and 9 assists for 12 points in 46 games. He was acquired by the Penguins in 2016 from the Edmonton Oilers for a 3rd round pick.

Schultz was drafted 43rd overall by the Anaheim Ducks in 2008. He went to the University of Wisconsin before making his NHL debut for the Edmonton Oilers in 2012-13.

His best season was the 2016-17 season with the Penguins, in which he put up 12 goals and 39 assists for 51 points in 79 games. He ultimately topped that season with his second Stanley Cup in a row.
