The Montreal Canadiens' 2022 1st overall pick, Juraj Slafkovsky, called his season an "embarrassment" in a post-game interview yesterday.

Juraj Slafkovsky had an amazing end to the season last year, scoring 35 points in the second half of the regular calendar.

Unfortunately, he wasn't able to bring the same contributions this year and was limited to only nine goals in 51 games so far.

Yesterday, the Habs won 5-2 against the Ottawa Senators in what was arguably Slafkovsky's best game of the season.

He scored a goal, had five shots on goal, eight hits, and even dropped the gloves for the second time this season.

After the game, Slafkovsky opened up on his performance, saying he wants to play with the same intensity every night:

"I want this to be my standard every night, I've just got to do it again."

Later, he opened up on his disappointing first half of the season, and he went as far as calling it an "embarrassment," saying he's been thinking about what he could change in his game during the 4 Nations Face-Off break.

Read his full comments here:

"I feel like this season is an embarrassment from my side. After the ending of last year - 30 games, 30 points - and then I come out here, playing like junior hockey and not doing anything."

"I've been thinking about it for two weeks, that I've got to change something."

"Maybe I would get so satisfied sometimes with a game like this that I would get home and think that was a nice game, and then I wouldn't come out as strong. Got to be angry all the time. I can't let this slip. My teammates expect me to do this again on Tuesday, so I want to make sure I'll be there for the rest of the year."

"You see that it's working, and you just want to keep that. Just have to translate it to the next game, because that's been an issue this year."

It'll be interesting to see if he can maintain that rhythm until the end of the season as the Habs make a push to get the opportunity to play meaningful games before the playoffs.
