The Calgary Flames have made a big splash in the free agent market, snagging one of this year's biggest names. Goaltender Jacob Markstrom has signed a six-year deal with Calgary worth $6 million per season (AAV). The contract will end when Markstrom is 36-years-old.

The new deal represents a big raise for Markstrom. He just finished a three-year contract with Vancouver worth $3.6 million per season. Markstrom came to Vancouver as part of the Roberto Luongo deal back in 2014.

With Markstrom hitting the free agency market, Vancouver signed former Washington goaltender Braden Holtby two a two-year, 8.6 million deal.

In staying with Calgary news, former Flames goaltender Cam Talbot signed a three-year deal with Minnesota worth $11 million.
