After nearly a year of trade speculation, and talks of if he was a bust or not, the Edmonton Oilers have announced they re-signed forward Jesse Puljujarvi to a two-year, $2.35 million contract, with an average annual value of $1.175 million per season. Puljujarvi was a restricted free agent after the 2018-19 season, and after contract talks fell through with the Oilers, he decided to head home for the 2019-20 season signing with Karpat in the Liiga, Finland's top hockey league. He will stay with Karpat until the opening of training camps for the 2020-21 NHL season.

Puljujarvi, 22, was drafted in the first round, 4th overall by the Edmonton Oilers in the 2016 NHL entry draft. In 139 regular season games, he's put up 37 points (17 G, 20 A), 40 penalty minutes, and is a -10.

He was nearly a point per game player with Karpat during the 2019-20 season. In 56 games, Puljujarvi had 53 points (24 G, 29 A), 52 penalty minutes, and was a +30. In 2 games this season, he has 1 goal, 0 penalty minutes, and is a +/-0.

Internationally, Puljujarvi has represented Finland on multiple occasions, most recently at the 2017 IIHF Men's World Hockey Championships where he had 0 points, 4 penalty minutes, and was a +/-0 in 8 games as the Finns placed fourth.

He was on fire at the 2016 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships where in 7 games, he put up 17 points (5 G, 12 A), 0 penalty minutes, and was a +8 as Finland won their fourth World Junior title.
