Nashville Predators forward, Kyle Turris, could have the remaining four years of his six-year contract bought out by the Predators in order to try and make the team younger. The Predators are looking to change their identity a bit this offseason, and moving on from Turris could be part of the solution.

Turris was acquired from the Ottawa Senators on November 5, 2017, and the Predators signed him to a six-year, $36 million contract on the same day. At the time it looked like a decent deal for a playmaking forward coming off of a 27-goal effort the year prior, but it just has not worked out for Turris in Nashville.

Turris recorded 42 points (13 goals, 29 assists) in 65 games in 2017-18 after the trade, but over the past 2 seasons he has not been the same. His numbers have dipped to just 54 points (16 goals, 38 assists) in 117 games along with a line of injuries over the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons. He also did not tally a single point in this year's playoffs.

The Predators' GM, David Poile, had this to say about Turris:

"When we made the trade for Kyle, he was a terrific player and he really gave our team a boost," Poile said. "But for whatever reason it hasn't gone well in the last couple years, and those are the things in these next couple weeks that we're going to weigh in terms of what we should do and what we're doing. I don't want to take anything off the table.”

It sure sounds like Turris may be finding his way out of Nashville, and the buyout window is open. The Predators could look for a trade partner, but with the $6 million salary that could be difficult to find.

The Predators also announced earlier this week that Craig Smith and Mikael Granlund would not be receiving new contracts. The team is hoping that some younger players like Eeli Tolvanen, Yakov Trenin, Rem Pitlick, and Philip Tomasino could step up and take over some of the open spots on the roster. All we know is that big changes are coming to the Music City.
