Former NHL forward Rod Pelley announced his retirement from professional hockey over the weekend after playing 14 pro seasons.

Pelley, 36, will be remembered by most hockey fans for his time spent with the New Jersey Devils. He played in parts of five seasons with the Devils, as well as 45 games with the Anaheim Ducks during the 2011-12 season, his last in the NHL. The Kitimat, British Columbia native played in a total of 256 career regular season games, posting nine goals and 29 points. He also played in three playoff games but was held off the scoresheet.

Since his last stint in the NHL during the 2011-12 season, Pelley spent the majority of his time in the AHL before going overseas for the past two seasons. The 2018-19 season saw him play in Denmark, and this past and final season saw him play in Romania. While he was not the most offensively skilled player, the undrafted centerman was able to carve out a solid career for himself.
