Pending UFA defenseman Torey Krug could find his negotiating rights moved to another team as early as Monday, Sept 28th, per Spittin Chiclets co-host and Barstool Sports writer Rear Admiral.

The rumour mill is beginning to turn more and more quickly as we approach the NHL Entry Draft (Oct 6, 7) and free agency (Oct 9), as is expected. We may see several deals of this magnitude as teams look to avoid losing valuable assets to free agency with nothing to show for it.

Admiral has also suggested that Colorado, Detroit, Florida and Vegas are among the teams most interested in acquiring Krug's rights so that they might begin negotiating an extension ahead of Oct 9th.

If the move happens as quickly as Barstool Sports believes it will, Krug could help set the market for other pending UFAs whose teams are looking to land an asset or two in exchange for the rights to negotiate a new contract, much like what occured last offseason with then Jets forward Kevin Hayes, who had his rights shipped to the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for a 5th round draft pick in the 2019 draft. The result was a large payday for Hayes, who was locked up by the Flyers for 7 years at a lofty $7.14M AAV.

Other big ticket players who could also potentially have their rights traded include prized UFA defenseman Alex Pietrangelo, Washington Capitals netminder Braden Holtby and Arizona Coyotes forward Taylor Hall.

The Bruins are believed to have tabled a "take it or leave it" offer to Krug this past week. I suppose we'll soon see which side of the fence Krug lands on. Rumours of a max-term deal for a dollar figure as high as $8M per season is the ask from the Krug camp.
