Pavelski inches closer to another postseason record

Joe Pavelski tied Joe Mullen for the most goals scored in the postseason by a United States born player after tallying two more in the Dallas Star 5-4 overtime loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning on Friday night.

The Wisconsin native has scored 12 goals this postseason, which gives him 60 in his career. Mullen also had 60 in his career, and the next closest to the record was Mike Modano who had 58.

Pavelski scored a goal in the first period to put the Stars up 2-0.

Then he did so again in the third period to tie the game 4-4. Although, it was not enough to power the Stars over the Lightning.

Pavelski only scored 14 goals during the regular season, but has elevated his game to another level in the playoffs, as he trails just Brayden Point in goals this postseason. Considering he is 36 years old, this is quite incredible.

"It's cool to be up there with those names," Pavelski said this week. "We are focused right now on the Finals, so all that stuff is just extra. Just look at it another day. ... But I've played in a lot of playoff games, scored some goals along the way, and we're here today. So I'll keep trying to add to it."

Pavelski and the Stars will look to stay alive after going down 3-1 in the series, tonight at 8 p.m. ET.
