After yet another disappointing playoffs, the Toronto Maple Leafs may be looking at major changes as the NHL Draft approaches.

New GM Brad Treliving has big decisions ahead of him, chief among them is the status of the Leafs marquee Core Four.

Trade Speculation

While two of these members Auston Matthews and John Tavares are unlikely to be traded, the other two Mitch Marner and William Nylander are intriguing.

Marner is particular is fascinating, as his uninspiring playoff performances and rocky relationship with fans/media make him a possible candidate.

Marner to Montreal

A potential trade has been proposed by Cedrick Gervais of Marquer.com had this idea for a Leafs-Habs swap:

The Trade would see the Habs acquire Mitch Marner in exchange for Josh Anderson, Joel Edmundson, Pick 31 in the Draft, Pick 37, Calgary's 2025 first, and Jordan Harris.

This trade would work from a cap scenario, as Montreal would unload the onerous Josh Anderson contract.

Marner has two years left on his contract at an $10.893 million cap hit. Would the Toronto native Marner be willing to re-sign with with hated rivals in Quebec?

Although this trade between two historic rivals is very unlikely, it's fun to speculate on controversial players like Mitch Marner and his future.
