The New Jersey Devils are set to host the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday night for their final home regular season game and they'll be doing so by getting a massive boost to their lineup.

Following the optional morning skate, Devils head coach Lindy Ruff announced that 2021 fourth overall pick Luke Hughes will make his National Hockey League debut on Tuesday night.

It's unclear who Hughes will be with for tonight's game against the Sabres, but the 19-year-old skated on the third pairing for Monday's practice alongside Brendan Smith and Kevin Bahl, both of whom rotate through during line rushes.

Hughes is coming off an extremely strong sophomore year at the University of Michigan where he put up 48 points (ten goals, 38 assists), 26 penalty minutes and was a plus-24 in 39 games. He also represented the United States at the 2023 World Juniors, where he was named captain. Hughes helped the USA to the bronze medal, recording five points (four goals, one assist) in seven games.

Puck drop for Luke Hughes' NHL debut is set for 7 p.m. ET and can be viewed on MSGSN as well as MSG-B.
