On Sunday night when the Toronto Maple Leafs faced off against the Detroit Red Wings, goaltender Matt Murray was injured during the first period. As Lucas Raymond attempts to skate by Murray, he appears to lose an edge and slide into the back of Murray's legs. Murray falls hard to the ice and appears to be in immediate discomfort.

Leafs fans were hoping the removal of Murray was simply on a precautionary basis, but that no longer appears to be the case. Today the Maple Leafs made the roster move to recall Joseph Woll from the Toronto Marlies on an emergency basis.

The @MapleLeafs have recalled G Joseph Woll from the @TorontoMarlies on an emergency basis.

This will mark the 3rd time that Murray has been injured this season and continues to be a trend for the goaltender, dating all the way back to his Cup runs with the Penguins. The Maple Leafs added Murray with his Stanley Cup pedigree in mind, it could be a significant blow to the Leafs if he's unable to be apart of the team come playoffs.

The Maple Leafs appeared to have a lot of questions surrounding their goaltending situation, but it appears that another injury to Murray is going to lock Ilya Samsonov into the starter's role.
