Some sad news to report on in the hockey world on Monday evening as the Toronto Maple Leafs announced that former player, Ken Girard has passed away at the age of 86.

Girard, a native of Toronto, began his hockey career in the OHA in the mid-1950s playing for the Marlboros, before joining the Maple Leafs organization in 1956-57.

He went on to appear in seven games at the NHL level for the Maple Leafs, recording one assist, but would spend the majority of his professional career in the AHL, EPHL and WHL, before retiring in 1962.

Our thoughts are with the Girard family at this difficult time.
