Reports surfaced over the weekend regarding former San Jose Sharks farmhand Artem Ivanyuzhenkov and his alleged involvement in a serious crime in Russia.

According to several sources, Ivanyuzhenkov was celebrating a birthday in the city of Podolsk, which is just over an hour south of Moscow. Details are a bit sketchy at this time as to what led to the altercation, but it is alleged that Ivanyuzhenkov stabbed a 23-year-old male to death.

Witnesses at the scene reportedly identified Ivanyuzhenkov as the perpetrator, but the HC Sochi forward is denying any involvement and responded the allegations.

"False and complete lies are flying around the internet that I committed a crime in the Moscow region in some restaurant. Do not believe unconfirmed information. I am at the training camp in Sochi for the third day. The investigation will sort everything out," Ivanyuzhenkov says.

The 24-year-old signed with San Jose's AHL affiliate for the 2019-20 season, but ended up only appearing in two games for the Barracuda, before spending the rest of the year in the ECHL. At the conclusion of the season, he returned to Russia, where he's been ever since.
