A former NHL goaltender has been chosen to play the general manager of the Philadelphia Flyers on an upcoming episode of the popular sitcom The Goldbergs. Brian Boucher will play a fictional version of the team's GM on the show, which is set in Pennsylvania in the 1980s and often makes references to the Flyers.

The synopsis for the episode, which airs on Wednesday, March 15th states:
"When the Flyers make it to the Stanley Cup Finals, Barry implements superstitious protocols that the family must follow; per Geoff's request."

Here's a sneak peak of Boucher's appearance, in which he seems very relaxed in the role.

Boucher was a 1st round pick of Philly's back in 1995. After spending three years in the minors, he made his NHL debut with the Flyers in 1999. In 2002, he became a member of the then Phoenix Coyotes. After parts of three seasons there, Boucher bounced around to a few teams before eventually ending up back in Philadelphia in 2009. In 2011, he signed with Carolina, but wound up back in Philadelphia once again in 2012 via a trade. The Flyers would be the last NHL team he played for. Since retiring, Boucher has enjoyed a lengthy hockey broadcasting career that continues to this day.
