For players growing up dreaming of playing in the National Hockey League, they picture their first career goal to be a top corner snipe over the goalie's shoulder, but they're not always as pretty as that, case in point Vegas Golden Knights rookie forward Pavel Dorofeyev.

During Sunday's contest against the St. Louis Blues, Dorofeyev, playing in only his sixth career game, scored his first NHL goal in unique fashion.

As William Karlsson was attempting to shoot the puck on the Blues net, the puck takes a deflection off the post, comes up and hits Dorofeyev in the visor, then goes into the net, giving Vegas the 4-3 lead. The goal stood as the game winner as Vegas won the game, 5-3.

The Blues players, including goaltender Jordan Binnington, wanted the goal to be called back, but because it was a deflection and not a deliberate attempt to score with his head, the goal stood.
