The Toronto Maple Leafs have acquired D Jake McCabe and F Sam Lafferty from the Chicago Blackhawks.

With the teams of the Eastern Conference stockpiling top-tier talent, the Leafs bolster their lineup with a pair of coveted players.

Full Trade:

Chicago retained 50% of McCabe's salary; he is signed through the 2024-25 season, so that is $2 million for 2.5 seasons. Also, the 2025 1st rounder sent to Chicago is top-10 protected. Not too shabby from Kyle Dubas.

All signs point to a Tampa Bay-Toronto playoff series in the first round, and Toronto has now added Ryan O'Reilly, Noel Acciari, Jake McCabe, and Sam Lafferty.

Could this be the year the Leafs finally break through the first round?
