During the '32 Thoughts' segment on Hockey Night in Canada on Saturday evening, Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman revealed that the Boston Bruins are looking to add a defenceman to their roster before the trade deadline, preferably a left-shot one.

Earlier this week, it was reported by Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff that the Boston Bruins were the front-runner for Columbus Blue Jackets defenceman Vladislav Gavrikov and that's who they have their eyes on, as Friedman mentions.

"I do think that one of the reasons that Gavrikov was given the trade-related sit-out by the Columbus Blue Jackets is because the Bruins are in on him. I think they're also looking at Chychrun, but I do think they are in on Gavrikov, as well." Friedman said.

He added, "One of the issues I believe is cap. The Bruins have to do some things to make this work. But, we'll see where this goes over the next couple of days. I think left-D is an area that Boston has targeted."

If the Bruins happen to miss out on Gavrikov, another name that is reportedly an option is Dmitry Kulikov of the Anaheim Ducks. The 32-year-old left-shot blueliner is set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer and has a modified no-trade clause, featuring an eight-team no-trade list. In 52 games for the Ducks this season, the Lipetsk (Russia) native has 12 points (two goals, ten assists).
