Miller is in the final year of his previous 5-year deal with his new 7-year, $56 million contract signed last summer set to kick in at the start of next season. In 55 games this, Miller has managed 49 points and is on pace for 73 points; not bad but 26 less than last season.
Friedman at the intermission says teams have called the Canucks and asked about JT Miller and asked if we wanted to do this, what would you think about here? Friedman adds he doesn't know if this will lead anywhere though.— NHL Watcher (@NHL_Watcher) February 19, 2023
Friedman remains doubtful that anything becomes of these talks just yet, but one has to imagine Vancouver is open to moving that particular player. For starters, he is on a rich contract and Vancouver needs the cap space. Also, is Miller even worth that deal? It's worth discussing.
Moreover, Miller's antics in the locker room are well-document. Heck, the Canucks reportedly had to hire a coach just to keep him in check.

The ball is in GM Patrik Allvin's court on this one, but I have to believe he is at least considering moving J.T. Miller if there are willing participants. It probably wouldn't net a huge return, but that's the sort of trade the Canucks need to make if they are going to right the ship.
No slight to Miller, he's a fine player.
But the Canucks can't afford to have all these players - Miller, Ekman-Larsson, Boeser, Myers, etc. - playing beneath their cap hits. If they ever want to field a competitive team, it starts with trimming the fat.
