Jake Virtanen's time in the Swiss National League appears to be over. After signing with Visp EHC in November, the team has announced that they've terminated his contract.

There are rumours that Virtanen got into an altercation with a teammate, which led to him being put on the trading block by Visp EHC earlier this week. It seems a trade wasn't in the cards. According to Swiss Hockey News, there is interest in signing Virtanen in Germany, and from teams in the National Hockey League. It does not state which teams.
Virtanen had been playing well offensively with Switzerland, putting up 15 goals and 25 points in 21 games. The former 6th overall pick of the Vancouver Canucks was bought out of his NHL contract in July of 2021. Last season, he played in the KHL in Russia.
