The Montreal Canadiens announced on Tuesday that they've called up 21-year-old defenceman Justin Barron from the Laval Rocket of the American Hockey League.
Barron, a former first-round pick of the Avalanche, was acquired by the Canadiens from Colorado, along with a 2024 second-pick, in exchange for Finnish forward Artturi Lehkonen.
The Halifax native has had a very good season with Laval so far, leading to his call-up to the Canadiens. In 25 games, he's put up 16 points (seven goals, nine assists), six penalty minutes and is a minus-three.
The Canadiens will be back in action on Wednesday night when they continue their seven-game road trip by taking on the Lightning in Tampa Bay.
