Just about every fan is already aware of Hockeydb.com. It's an excellent resource for fans and analysts alike; not just for statistics, but also for general information on players. Now, HockeyDB has announced the Top 10 Most Searched Players on Hockey DB for 2022.

A quick reminder that this goes back to January of 2022, meaning last season. Some of the names seem pretty obvious, while others are surprising simply for their ability to keep fans engaged. One of these is Sidney Crosby, who comes in at number 7 on the list. Crosby isn't exactly a spring chicken any more, but he's still putting up points in bunches, and it seems he has plenty of followers because of it.

No one would blame you for guessing that phenom Connor Bedard came it at number one. Slated to go 1st overall in the 2023 draft with all signs pointing to him being a generational talent, it's not surprising that a lot of people are searching for Bedard. But, he's not number one; he came in at number 6. Just ahead of him is Alex Ovechkin, who continues his quest to become the best goal scorer of all time in the NHL. He only has The Great One Wayne Gretzky left to pass now. Number four goes to Auston Matthews, who struggled to find the back of the net at the first of the season, but seems to be coming around now. Number 3 is the man many consider to be the best hockey player in the world right now, Connor McDavid. Shane Wright takes the number two spot. He was the expected 1st overall pick in the last draft, but ended up dropping to number 4 and going to the Seattle Kraken.

With a lot of the big names already off the board, who comes in a number one for the Most Searched Player of 2012? It's Cole Caufield of the Montreal Canadiens. After sputtering in the first part of last season, and even being sent to the AHL for a stint, Caufield has been on fire since Martin St. Louis took over as head coach of the Habs last February. He's apparently garnering plenty of interest from those seeking out stats. It's also worth mentioning that he is one of three in the Top 10 list from the Montreal Canadiens. Team captain Nick Suzuki took the number 10 spot, while teammate Kirby Dach, who was picked up from the Chicago Blackhawks at the 2022 draft, comes in at number 9. Here's the full list.
