Connor Bedard appears destined to captain the Chicago Blackhawks one day, and against the St. Louis Blues, he received a huge honour making him one step from that.

While Connor Bedard is just 19-years old, he is currently older than both Sidney Crosby and Connor McDavid were when they were named captain of their respective franchises, and this off-season, the overwhelming expectation was that he would join the list. Surprisingly though, the Blackhawks opted against that, instead naming veteran Nick Foligno their captain ahead of what could be another rocky season in Chicago.
However, this is likely just a temporary measure as Bedard looks to grow into himself as a player at the NHL level, as he has only just completed his rookie campaign with much still to learn in the league. It may not be long until we see the transition though, as Bedard was spotted with an 'A' on his chest ahead of the team's final regular season game against the St. Louis Blues, signalling that he is ready to begin taking a larger leadership role within the organization.
When announcing Foligno as the captain of the team, the Blackhawks didn't comment on whether Bedard will wear an 'A' or not, but with the regular season just around the corner, all signs are now pointing towards that. After a rookie campaign of 22 goals and 61 points in 68 games played, Bedard clearly has the talent to be a star at the next level, and if he can become a captain at the level of McDavid or Crosby, we could be looking at another mega star that will lead the league forward for years to come, so expect him to don the 'C' before long.
