If David Jiricek of Czechia is going to play against Team Canada at the World Juniors in Halifax on Boxing Day, it will take a Christmas miracle. According to his agent, Jiricik, the 6th overall pick of the Columbus Blue Jackets and one of Czechia's star players, finally arrived in Halifax after several delays on Christmas Day. Unfortunately, his equipment didn't land with him.

"Air Canada customer support is a disaster, an outrageous embarrassment of a company. NHL 6th overall pick David Jiricek flew from Cleveland (AHL) to Halifax thru Toronto. Numerous cancelled flights, now he's in Halifax for WJC with no gear, no skates, no sticks," said agent Allan Walsh on Twitter.
"The last scan of David's gear was Toronto. They don't know where gear is or when will arrive in Halifax. The opening Czechia game of WJC is against Canada [Monday]. Sat on hold for 2.5 hours, then line went dead. How about some accountability for Air Canada."
Someone asked Walsh if they might be able to find equipment for Jiricek in Halifax. Walsh said without even taking into account the closures of most stores around the Holidays, it likely wouldn't work.
"David is 6'4» with a size 13 custom skate," Walsh told someone who responded to his tweets.
Anyone who's used Air Canada is likely well aware of the headaches that can come along with it. Add in inclement weather almost all the way across Canada the last few days, and it's been a nightmare for would be travellers. We likely won't find out whether Jiricek got this situation sorted until the game starts Monday. He did skate with his team Monday, but still doesn't have game time equipment.
