The NHL's Department of Player Safety has summoned Minnesota Wild forward Mason Shaw to a hearing on Friday. Shaw was assessed a five-minute major and a game misconduct for kneeing San Jose Sharks forward Evgeny Svechnikov on Thursday:

A hearing from Player Safety opens the door for a suspension, which is a likely outcome for Shaw given the severity of his offense. Svechnikov was seen wearing ice wrapped around his knee after the game and didn't comment on whether or not Shaw should be suspended.

Shaw, if you'll recall, delivered an elbow to Sharks' defenseman Radek Simek earlier this season, who sustained a concussion on the play. Sharks head coach said in response that hockey players have long memories, suggesting Shaw may - or may not - have a target on his back now.
