At a critical point of Thursday's matinee featuring the Flyers and the Maple Leafs, Toronto defenseman Timothy Liljegren took a foolish penalty. Leading 4-3 with 1:10 to go, Liljegren cross-checked Owen Tippett in the side of the head but was charged with an interference minor.

Puzzling enough was the brand of penalty assessed, but either way it was not a smart penalty to take. Furthermore, as the NHL cracks down on blows to the head, don't be surprised if Liljegren hears from the Department of Player Safety for it.

The Maple Leafs held on for the win, despite nearly blowing a 4-1 lead to the Flyers. They sit just 4 points back of the behemoth Boston Bruins, which is impressive given their lackluster start to the season.
The Flyers, on the other hand, are shoe-ins for the first-overall pick. The sentiment around the league is that GM Chuck Fletcher is on the hot seat; finally.
