The Vancouver Canucks announced on Wednesday that franchise legend Roberto Luongo will become the eighth member of their 'Ring of Honour' during the 2023-24 season.

"We are proud to welcome Roberto to the prestigious list of Canucks Ring of Honour inductees," said Jim Rutherford, Vancouver Canucks President, Hockey Operations.

He added, "Roberto experienced many of his career highlights as a Vancouver Canuck and is deservingly viewed as one of the best goaltenders our game has ever seen thanks to those moments. He was a fierce competitor and a tremendous leader for this team, and we are honoured to be able to acknowledge his contributions to this organization and city."

The 43-year-old spent parts of eight seasons with the Vancouver Canucks, appearing in 448 games and leading the franchise in wins (252) and shutouts (38).

Earlier in November, Luongo was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame, alongside his former teammates, Henrik and Daniel Sedin. In his illustrious career, Luongo played in 1,044 games for the New York Islanders, Florida Panthers and Vancouver Canucks where he had a record of 489-392-124, along with a 2.52 GAA, .919 save percentage and 77 shutouts.
