Erik Karlsson has been on an absolute tear to start this season, scoring 21 points (10g, 11a) in the Sharks' first 16 games. For that reason, Markerzone is officially opening an investigation into the suspect who clearly took Karlsson out at his own blue-line, allowing the Minnesota Wild a shorthanded rush which they would bury with relative ease.

Because obviously, there is no chance whatsoever that Karlsson - arguably a top-five defenseman of all-time - blew a tire that bad. There is just no way, not up for discussion.

Of course, there is the possibility that Karlsson is just trying to help his team land Connor Bedard, but I just refuse to believe his integrity would allow that sort of behavior. The only logical explanation is perhaps a sniper in the crowd, a razor-thin bit of string being operated by the home-team, or witchcraft.

Like a good detective, I won't rule anything out until we gather the proper evidence.

* This was satire, not to be taken seriously. Obviously, Karlsson just reverse toe-picked. *

Final (shootout): SJS - 3 : MIN - 2
