A.J. Greer has never shied away from the rough stuff, and on Sunday night he showed Boston Bruins fans why he is on the team. First, he lined up Vancouver Canucks youngster with an open ice hit, which may or may not have been on the high side.

Then, Podkolzin clearly didn't like it, so he challenged Greer to a fight. Spoiler alert: things would not end well for the Russian. Greer did everything short of knock his opponent out cold, noticeably cutting Podkolzin with the final punch.
Greer had started the game off on a physical note, throwing more than a couple hits through the opening ten minutes or so. Luke Schenn approached Greer before Podkolzin challenged him, and Greer appeared more than willing. But Schenn never dropped the gloves.
Rough decision in hindsight. Schenn cannot feel good about that, seeing his 21-year old teammate - who is definitely NOT a fighter - get his ass kicked after neglecting to drop 'em. Brutal look for Schenn, a hardened NHL veteran.
