Rod Brind'Amour announced today that goaltender Frederik Andersen will miss time to a lower-body injury. The coach of the Hurricanes says Andersen tweaked something in Tuesday's practice that could sideline him for weeks, possibly longer.

Brind'Amour says: "I'm not going to say he's week-to-week, because I don't know. But he's not coming back tomorrow."

So far this season, the Danish netminder is 5-3 in his eight starts, posting a 2.72 GAA and a .891 SV%. The Hurricanes sit third in the Metropolitan Division and ninth in the NHL with a record of 8-4-1.
Fortunately for Carolina, Antti Raanta is a more than qualified replacement for the time being, and in the AHL is Russian phenom Pyotr Kotchetkov, who will likely be recalled in response to this news.
For now, Andersen is considered day-to-day but could be out week-to-week, if not longer, given Brind'Amour's words.
