The Colorado Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar defended goaltender Alexandar Georgiev after pulling him out from the second straight game.

The new season in Colorado hasn't started how the players, coaches, and managers expected it. Being one of the best teams across the League in the past years, many people believed that Nathan MacKinnon and Cale Makar would be able to lead the team to success. While both players were great individually, scoring four points each, the team struggled in another area: between the pipes.

The Avs are currently 0-2 despite scoring eight goals in those games. Why? Because Alexandar Georgiev hasn't been performing well.

He was pulled out of both games he started after allowing five goals in 16 shots to the Vegas Golden Knights, as well as three goals on nine shots from the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Towards the end of the game, frustration was palpable. Nathan MacKinnon, among others, didn't seem happy and was even ejected from the game after a meltdown in the ice.

After the game, head coach Jared Bednar defended his goalie, saying they believe in their starter and that it's too early in the season to start pointing fingers.

In his own words:

"I get that there's a level of frustration, but (Georgiev), he's our guy, he's our starter, right? And I have full faith that he has the ability, the talent, (and) the work ethic to bounce back and win us hockey games. It's a mental game (for him) right now, right? So we'll regroup and then we have other areas ... that we have to get better at."

Earlier this week, the Avs claimed the goaltender Kahkonen on waivers, adding another option for Bednar as they look forward to their next matchup, on Monday, against the New York Islanders and Patrick Roy.
