Just days ago, NHL commissioner Gary Bettman surprised many when he announced that former Boston Bruins prospect Mitchell Miller was not eligible to play in the NHL. While no one disagreed with the premise of what Bettman was saying, it was somewhat odd given that prior to the Bruins signing Miller, the NHL had never made that ruling clear. Now, it appears they are doing the same type of thing with a Montreal Canadiens prospect.

That prospect is Logan Mailloux, who the Habs controversially selected with the 31st overall pick in the 2021 draft. For those who may not remember, the now 19-year-old secretly took pictures during a sexual encounter with a young woman without her consent, and went on to share them with his teammates during the 2020-21 season.
Shortly after this announcement was made, Habs general manager Jeff Gorton said he wasn't surprised by the news, but believes at some point Mailloux will be able to play in the NHL. By all accounts the London Knights defenseman has the skill to do so, though he will have to prove to many, including Bettman, that he is truly remorseful for the mistake he made.
