A tough break for the Boston Bruins early into the 2022-23 season. The team has announced that defenceman and former 15th overall pick Derek Forbort will miss a chunk of time after having surgery on one of his fingers.

"On November 3, Forbort underwent a successful open reduction and internal fixation surgery on his right middle finger. The procedure was performed by Dr. Matt Leibman at MGB. The expected recovery time is four to six weeks." - Bruins News Release

According to Hopkins Medicine, "Internal fixation refers to the method of physically reconnecting your bones. This might involve special screws, plates, rods, wires, or nails that your surgeon places inside your bones to fix them in the correct place."
Forbort has played in 10 games so far in 2022-23, scoring one goal and adding two assists. Boston is having some injury issues early, with names like David Krejci, Charlie MacAvoy, Craig Smith, and Jeremy Swayman all dealing with ailments right now.
