The Philadelphia Flyers will be without the services of 33-year-old forward James van Riemsdyk for an undetermined amount of time as he is headed for surgery according to Head Coach John Tortorella.

Tortorella told reporters on Tuesday morning that van Riemsdyk has a broken finger and will be having surgery in the coming days.
The injury occurred with less than seven minutes left in the first period of Sunday's tilt with the San Jose Sharks. van Riemsdyk blocked a shot with his hand, left the game and was unable to return.
Van Riemsdyk, a native of Middletown (New Jersey), has appeared in six games for the Flyers this season and was off to a fairly good start. In those six games, he has five points (two goals, three assists), six penalty minutes and is a plus-five.
