The Montreal Canadiens lost their second game in as many nights, this time by a score of 3-1 against the Washington Capitals. Canadiens captain Nick Suzuki opened the scoring with his 50th career goal before the Capitals stormed back with three-straight.

The game got pretty rough late in the third period. First, Montreal Canadiens rookie Kaiden Guhle got into a shoving match with Capitals forward Anthony Mantha. Mantha appeared to catch Guhle with an elbow in the face along the boards, to which the Habs rookie blue liner then cross-checked Mantha in the lower back. Mantha grabbed Guhle and both player dropped the mitts in a relatively quick tilt.

After the final whistle, Capitals forward Nic Dowd appeared to say something and skated into Canadiens captain Nick Suzuki. Habs forward Brendan Gallagher was not happy with that and skated over and jumped Dowd, before being jumped by other Washington players, including T.J. Oshie. Cooler heads eventually prevailed, but Gallagher was heated with Dowd and the Capitals.

Both Montreal and Washington will be back in action on Monday night. The Canadiens will host the Pittsburgh Penguins at the Bell Centre, while the Capitals welcome the Vancouver Canucks to Capital One Arena. Puck drop for both games is set for 7 p.m. ET.
