The Philadelphia Flyers announced the cuts they made today, and among that group is 2019 14th overall pick Cam York.

York, 21, played 30 games for the Flyers last season and was expected to make a big jump in 2022-23. Alas, head coach John Tortorella did not vibe with York's game and sent him to the AHL.

The former Michigan Wolverine has high hopes, and if he does not pan out we can just add that to the list of blunders made by GM Chuck Fletcher.

Also cut by the Flyers:

- F Adam Brooks (waivers)
- F Max Willman (waivers)
- F Louie Belpedio (waivers)
- F Tyson Foerster
- F Olle Lycksell
- D Adam Ginning
- D Adam Karashik
- G Pat Nagle

The most concerning part of York's demotion is that the team still has 34 players on its training camp roster. Meaning, York was not among the last group of cuts which is an extremely bad sign for the Flyers.

Perhaps, the kid just needs more time to refine his game. However, the decisiveness with which Tortorella acted in sending York to the minors is a horrid sign.
