Ahead of Tuesday's game against the Ottawa Senators, the Montreal Canadiens announced that they've made seven cuts to their training camp roster. Among those players are 2022 first round pick Filip Mesar and 2019 third round pick Mattias Norlinder.

Both Mesar and Norlinder have been assigned to the Laval Rocket of the American Hockey League. Goaltender Kevin Poulin and forward Xavier Simoneau have also been cut and sent to Laval.

Forwards Alex Belzile, Anthony Richard and Mitchell Stephens have been placed on waivers and if they are not claimed by 2 p.m. Eastern on Wednesday, they too will be assigned to Laval.

The Canadiens will play their final pre-season home game tonight against the Senators before heading out east to play a pair of games in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland.
