The Columbus Blue Jackets have made a couple of additions to their training camp roster in the form of Professional Tryout contracts (PTOs). Forward Victor Rask will be in Ohio next week, as well defenceman Ben Harpur.

Rask spent last season split between the Minnesota Wild and Seattle Kraken. He was traded to the Kraken in March for future considerations, which likely gives some implication as to why he's relying on a tryout rather than an actual contract for this season. The 29-year-old former second round pick had some decent seasons with the Carolina Hurricanes, getting close to 50 points on a couple of occasions, but fizzled out shortly after.

As for Harpur, he's been a fringe NHLer since being drafted by the Ottawa Senators in the fourth round in 2013. The 27-year-old played 19 games with the Nashville Predators in 2021-22, managing one assist and a minus-10. He also played six games in the AHL.

Columbus has also signed veteran forward James Neal to a PTO for training camp, which gets underway next week. All three will be looking to earn a formal contract before the regular season begins. Tryout contracts state the player can only sign a deal with that team unless/until they are officially cut from camp.
