Though he recently accepted a one-year, $6 million qualifying offer from the Winnipeg Jets, there had been reports that Pierre-Luc Dubois had asked management for a trade.

Not only did reports suggest Dubois had asked for a trade, there were also rumors that he was at the 2022 NHL Entry Draft, as it was his belief he would be traded to the Montreal Canadiens that day. However, the 24-year-old seems to want to set the record straight. Not only did he deny asking for a trade, but he also gave a different reason for why he did in fact attend the draft.

«You hear about things I apparently said or I apparently did. A lot of it is frustrating,» Dubois said. «If I wanted out of Winnipeg I would have asked for a trade. I didn't ask for a trade.

«I went to the draft because I live 15 minutes from the arena. I'm a fan of hockey. My bank invited me, they had a box with food and dinner. It was Thursday night, an entertaining night.»

Whether true or not, these comments seem to suggest Dubois is willing to play for the Jets this upcoming season. His future still remains a major question mark, though the Jets can afford to be patient with him given that he will remain a restricted free agent once this one-year deal comes to an end.
