With the deadline for NHL restricted free agents with arbitration rights to make their intentions official, we now know which ones want an independent arbitrator to decide their salary fate, and notable ones who are comfortable continuing to negotiate with their respective teams. Here are the RFAs filing for arbitration. There are certainly some recognizable names on the list. One interesting tidbit to remember is that doing so means the RFA is still able to receive offer sheets from other teams.

Mason Appleton (Winnipeg Jets), Ethan Bear (Carolina Hurricanes), Jesper Bratt (New Jersey Devils), Lawson Crouse (Arizona Coyotes), Morgan Geekie (Seattle Kraken), Mathieu Joseph (Ottawa Senators), Kaapo Kahkonen (San Jose Sharks), Kasperi Kapanen (Pittsburgh Penguins), Keegan Kolesar (Vegas Golden Knights), Oliver Kylington (Calgary Flames), Maxime Lajoie (Carolina Hurricanes), Steven Lorentz (San Jose Sharks), Isac Lundestrom (Anaheim Ducks), Zack MacEwen (Philadelphia Flyers), Niko Mikkola (St. Louis Blues)*, Andrew Mangiapane (Calgary Flames), Matthew Phillips (Calgary Flames), Jesse Puljujarvi (Edmonton Oilers), Tyce Thompson (New Jersey Devils), Yakov Trenin (Nashville Predators), Vitek Vanecek (New Jersey Devils), Jake Walman (Detroit Red Wings), Kailer Yamamoto (Edmonton Oilers), Pavel Zacha (Boston Bruins)

The deadline for Club-Elected Salary Arbitration notification is July 18 at 5 p.m. ET. Salary Arbitration hearings will be held from July 27 to Aug. 11.

As for notable RFAs who have elected to continue to negotiate with their respective teams, the list include Patrik Laine (Columbus Blue Jackets), Pierre-Luc Dubois (Winnipeg Jets), Nicholas Roy (Vegas Golden Knights), and Luke Kunin (Nashville Predators). These players are also still eligible to sign offer sheets if they choose to do so.

For those who have filed, a hearing date will be set later on and an independent third party will hear from them and their teams before making a decision, which is binding. In the meantime, teams can continue to negotiate with their RFAs in the hopes of reaching a deal before the hearing takes place.
