The Florida Panthers added some depth to their lineup on Sunday in the way of veteran defenceman Michael Del Zotto. The Stouffville (Ontario) native has agreed to terms on a one-year, two-way contract worth $750,000.

Del Zotto split the 2021-22 season between the Ottawa Senators and their American Hockey League affiliate, the Belleville Senators. In 26 games for Ottawa, he put up thirteen points (three goals, ten assists), while in 26 games for Belleville, he had 27 points (ten goals, seventeen assists).

The Stouffville (Ontario) native will look to compete for a spot on Florida's bottom pair during training camp, but barring any injuries or trades, the Panthers' six defencemen are pretty much locked up. Another veteran blueliner, Marc Staal, will also be looking to earn a spot on the roster, but it's more than likely that he, along with Del Zotto, will start the season in the AHL with the Charlotte Checkers.
