He currently has parts of 21 NHL seasons under his belt as head coach, and John Tortorella says his latest job with the Philadelphia Flyers will be his last. While being introduced as Philly's new head coach Tuesday, Tortorella said whenever his gig with the team ends, he'll end his coaching career.

Torts has served as bench boss with the New York Rangers, Tampa Bay Lightning, Vancouver Canucks, and Columbus Blue Jackets. He's coached close to 1400 regular season NHL games and several more in the playoffs. He has one Stanley Cup, which came with the Bolts in 2004.

Tortorella's style is not one that's loved by everyone. But, in true Torts fashion, he made it clear to members of the media that he has no plans to change.

"I am not chasing a perception," said Tortorella when asked if it ever bothers him what people think of him. "It's an awful way to live."

He added he simply won't let what anyone thinks of him change the way he operates and goes about his job.

For what it's worth, as you can see in the video below, Torts seemed to be in good spirits while meeting with the media. There will be a ton of pressure on him in 2022-23. Philadelphia needs to show its fanbase that changes being made are having a real impact. I have no doubt Tortorella is genuine in everything he does. He means what he says and does, whether or not anyone else agrees. Time will tell if current and future members of the Flyers' roster will buy into his system.
