There are rumblings that the Florida Panthers are actively shopping G Sergei Bobrovsky. GM Bill Zito is facing a treacherous summer ahead with only $3.074 million in cap space & more than ten free agents to re-sign or replace, per CapFriendly. Limited cap space & a market in which there is a premium on goaltenders, he might be able to get a solid return for Bobrovsky, but the $10 million makes things delicate. It makes sense in the business side of things to move Bobrovsky, but what about the hockey side? Would that move benefit the Panthers going forward on the ice?

Well that depends on Spencer Knight. Knight is a highly touted young netminder, who posted a 2.79 GAA & .908 SV% behing Bobrovsky this season. The 21 year-old looks promising, but if the Panthers are going to contend I don't think they can rely on Knight. That said, if Zito can't fill out a roster with the cap space he has, he might not have a choice. Another factor to consider is that the Panthers are without a first-round pick this season & the two seasons after. So netting first round pick this summer could be a top priority. In any event, it all comes down to whether Zito would rather have this guy between the pipes:

OR this guy plus $10 million:

And who you trust to win with the group in front of them. Especially after the moves they made over the season & how they went out. They really owe it to their fans to field a competitive team, but it'll be an interesting summer for the Cats. Look for them to make a few big splashes this summer.
