Well, that didn't take long at all, and that's exactly what many analysts predicted when Bruce Cassidy was suddenly let go as head coach of the Boston Bruins on June 6th. According to NHL Insider Kevin Weekes, Cassidy is set to be announced as the new head coach of the Vegas Golden Knights.

Vegas has since confirmed the move.

The Golden Knights fired Peter DeBoer after the team failed to make the playoffs for the first time since its inaugural season in 2017. The Boston Bruins have yet to name Cassidy's replacement.

Cassidy seemed to take the fall for the Boston Bruins inability to restock its prospect shelves in the draft. GM Don Sweeney and President Cam Neely have a terrible track record over the last decade or so. Cassidy's record as coach of the Bruins in the regular season was 245-108-46. He took the team to the Stanley Cup Final in 2019, losing to the St. Louis Blues.
