The Los Angeles Kings announced on Tuesday that they've signed back-to-back AHL MVP T.J. Tynan to a two-year, two-way contract extension worth $1.575 million ($787,500 AAV).

Tynan, 30, became the first player to win back-to-back MVP honours in the AHL since the mid-1980s.

The Orland Park (Illinois) native appeared in 62 games this season for LA's affiliate, the Ontario Reign, where he had 98 points (fourteen goals, 84 assists), eighteen penalty minutes and was a plus-twelve. Tynan went on to add three points in five playoff games.

Following Ontario's elimination from the playoffs, Tynan was added to the United States' roster for the 2022 IIHF World Hockey Championship. In six games, he had five assists as the United States finished fourth following a loss to Czechia in the Bronze Medal Game.
