With Alexander Radulov becoming a free agent on July 1st, speculation is rampant that the 35-year-old will be making his way home to Russia. Radulov has left the NHL for the KHL twice before, and did not have a great season in the NHL in a year where it would have been financially beneficial to do so. According to Sport-express.ru in Russia, should Radulov decide to return home, he'll still be making some very good money.

"According to our information, together with bonuses, Radulov can earn up to 150 million rubles a year in Kazan," wrote Sport-express reporter Artur Khairullin.

That's just under $2.5 million USD. By KHL standards, he would be one of the highest paid players in the league.

The offer is reportedly coming from Ak Bars Kazan. Radulov has played with two other KHL teams. One of them, CSKA Moscow, recently said Radulov is not welcome back.

Radulov is at the end of a contract that gave him a cap hit of $6.75 million per season for the last five. With just 4 goals and 22 points in 71 games in 2021-22, any offers from the NHL will be much lower than that. Can he get an offer for more than $2.5 million in North America? I'd guess the odds a pretty low. It may even be worth it to him to take a little less in order to play at home. The KHL usually begins its seasons in late August or early September. His agent told Championat.ru that he has no comment on the situation, saying it is still up for discussion.
