Early in the first period of Game 7 between the New York Rangers and Carolina Hurricanes, defenseman Jacob Trouba made his physical presence felt once again. Trouba delivered a monster hit on Canes' rookie Seth Jarvis.

Jarvis needed to crawl back to the bench where he was in clear distress. On the very same play, Carolina took a penalty for too many men on the ice as Jarvis' replacement left the bench much too early on the play.

We know Jarvis is a tough customer. He took a stick to the face earlier in the series and returned after missing just one shift.

Trouba has made a name for himself delivering hits like this one all season. He laid a hit on Chicago's Jujhar Khaira sending him to the hospital on a stretcher. Trouba injured Penguins' captain Sidney Crosby in Game 5 of the Rangers first round series. Most recently, he caught Max Domi off balance in the neutral zone during this series.

The hit appeared to be clean - shoulder to shoulder, and there was no penalty on the play. Jarvis' head does appear to whiplash a bit.
