The National Hockey League announced on Thursday that Toronto Maple Leafs forward Michael Bunting has been fined $2,000 for diving/embellishment (rule 64) during a game on February 17th against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

"NHL Rule 64 is designed to bring attention to and more seriously penalize players (and teams) who repeatedly dive and embellish in an attempt to draw penalties." The NHL's statement said.

Bunting's fine is his second citation this season. The first citation is a warning from the NHL. Second is a $2,000 fine, third is $3,000, fourth is $4,000, while fifth through eight citations are a $5,000 fine each, along with a fine for the team's coach.

In 50 games this season, Bunting has recorded 35 points (17 G, 18 A), 30 penalty minutes and is a +11.
